As 2024 comes to a close, we at HomePhysio By Nicola Ltd are taking a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year for our team, our business, and the patients we serve. This year has been nothing short of transformational, and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way.
Our team has grown significantly, welcoming new members, Preethi & Shiny, who share our passion for providing patient-centred care across the Scottish Borders. Together, we’ve expanded our reach, offering specialist physiotherapy services to people of all ages and conditions. The heart of our mission has always been to bring high-quality care directly into patients’ homes, and this year, we’ve continued to deliver on that promise while introducing new innovations.
Geographically, our services now cover an incredible range, from Berwick to Peebles, Bonjedward to Coldingham, and every area of the Scottish Borders in between. Our fabulous team is proud to bring expert physiotherapy care to these communities, ensuring patients can access the support they need without the burden of travel.
One of the elements that makes us unique is the wide variety of conditions we treat. From neurological conditions such as stroke, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and brain injuries, to orthopaedic rehabilitation for hip and knee replacements, fracture recovery, and falls and fragility, we provide personalised support for patients of all ages. Our expertise extends to sports injuries, women’s health (covering incontinence, prolapse, anti- and post-natal care), and even paediatrics, ensuring children have access to compassionate therapy to meet their developmental goals.
Innovation has been at the forefront of our approach this year, with the addition of cutting-edge equipment like the Motomed Viva 2, Easystand Evolv, standing harness, and SaeboStim One Functional Electrical Stimulation. These advancements, paired with our holistic approach, empower patients to not only recover but also to achieve personal goals and rediscover the joy of life. Whether it’s helping someone return to gardening, cooking, baking, walking, or other meaningful activities, we focus on making life experiences accessible and fulfilling once more.
2024 also celebrated the incredible growth of our Technical Instructor Physiotherapy Assistants, who launched their own services in Sonas Dementia Therapy and home massage therapy. Their dedication has enabled us to expand our offerings and meet the diverse needs of our patients, particularly relaxation and in supporting older adults and those with dementia.
This year, we ventured into the digital space, unveiling an online equipment store and releasing a range of downloadable products and guides to empower our patients and community. We also launched our business mentorship programme, helping other health professionals grow and thrive, and started the Borders Independent Health Professionals Network to foster collaboration and innovation among local providers.
Recognition has been another highlight of 2024. Nicola was a finalist in two Female Founder of the Year awards, and we were honoured as highly commended Fair Work Business of the Year at the Scottish Borders Business Excellence Awards. Additionally, we were proud to be shortlisted finalists in the Innovation Award, reflecting our commitment to pioneering care and improving patient outcomes. These awards are a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of our entire team.
Moving into our new office was another major milestone, reflecting how far we’ve come from a single physiotherapist’s vision to becoming the largest exclusively domiciliary physiotherapy provider in the Scottish Borders.
What makes these achievements so special is the impact they’ve had on our patients. By tailoring treatments to align with patients’ hobbies, interests, and personal goals, we ensure that care is meaningful and life-enhancing. Whether helping a grandparent play with their grandchildren again or guiding someone back to their favourite sport, we go the extra mile to improve not just physical function, but quality of life.
Looking back, we couldn’t have dreamed of how much we would grow and accomplish in 2024. From expanding our team and launching new initiatives to deepening our connection with the community, it’s been a remarkable year of progress and purpose.
